Octadecylphosphophosphoniumcholine is the phosphonium homolog of octadecylphosphocholine.
Octadecylphosphophosphoniumcholine has been shown to be much better tolerated than octadecylphosphocholine in rats suffering from experimental carcinom (LD₅₀= 1.8 mmol/kg in mouse) The cytotoxic activity on carcinoma cell cultures remained as good as that of octadecylphosphocholine, with an EC₉₀ of 6.2 µmol/L as compared to 6.4 µmol/L for octadecylphosphocholine.
